Summary

My enemy doesn't make the rules behind closed doors。。。

Even if he's my boss。

Cade Armanelli might be an infamous hacker with billionaire status who operates better alone, but I earned my spot working alongside him。。。

Whether he likes it or not。

It's precisely why I'm on the first plane to an undisclosed location for our cybersecurity team retreat。 I'm ready to prove to our company that I can handle anything。。。

Except sharing a cabin and a bed with my meticulous, elusive boss。

He's antisocial。

Ruthless。

Enemy number one。

Unfortunately, he's also number one in tatted, dark, and dangerous。 I quickly come to find that not only are his hacking skills perfection, but so is his performance in the bedroom。

Not that it matters。 I have a job to keep, a heart to protect, and our nation's data to secure。

Cade can't help me with any of that。

He's a distraction。 One I have to avoid。。。

Even if it means I'm spray painting a red line down our bed and keeping my boss on his side。

Corrupted Chaos is a light mafia standalone romance with forced proximity, steam, and a tech mogul that will fight and grovel for a HEA with his spitfire woman。

Yeah… I dnfed it。 Honestly, I just wasn’t really captivated by the story or the characters。 Cade mostly annoyed me and perhaps it’s because I haven’t read the previous book, but his chemistry with Izzy just felt off。 I didn’t like the way he treated her or how high he thought of himself, I mean, I like confidence but he just sounded pretentious af。 Also, the storyline it’s dumb; a lot of nonsensical stuff and a ton of plotholes。 Why would a billionaire wih ties with the italian mafia have a hack Yeah… I dnfed it。 Honestly, I just wasn’t really captivated by the story or the characters。 Cade mostly annoyed me and perhaps it’s because I haven’t read the previous book, but his chemistry with Izzy just felt off。 I didn’t like the way he treated her or how high he thought of himself, I mean, I like confidence but he just sounded pretentious af。 Also, the storyline it’s dumb; a lot of nonsensical stuff and a ton of plotholes。 Why would a billionaire wih ties with the italian mafia have a hacking business that helps the american government? Why doesn’t he work for the mafia, only? Why does he have to put up with bullshit like “team camping” or whatever the hell they traveled for? Besides, it felt like the writer just threw hacker buzzwords without even knowing what they meant。 Now for Izzy, she’s just the epitomy of “i’m not like the other girls” and that’s a shame cause I feel like with her being an ex-addict she could’ve been really unique。 But no, she’s just like a million other characters and just felt flat。To be fair, this harsh review can be product of me not being in the mood for the type of book, but I don’t care。 。。。more

★★★¼ chaotic starsCorrupted Chaos by Shain Rose is a steamy enemies-to-lover romance which tells the story of Izzy Hardy, a 9-years-sober, recovering addict, determined to move beyond her past, and Cade Armanelli, hacker extraordinaire, a reformed-mobster/businessman and possibly the most dangerous man ever。 This book has the dual POV of both the main characters Izzy and Cade, giving us both their perspective on things。I'll be honest, I added this book to my to-read list all thanks to a Book ★★★¼ chaotic starsCorrupted Chaos by Shain Rose is a steamy enemies-to-lover romance which tells the story of Izzy Hardy, a 9-years-sober, recovering addict, determined to move beyond her past, and Cade Armanelli, hacker extraordinaire, a reformed-mobster/businessman and possibly the most dangerous man ever。 This book has the dual POV of both the main characters Izzy and Cade, giving us both their perspective on things。I'll be honest, I added this book to my to-read list all thanks to a Bookstagram post I saw with a few lines excerpt from it。 It was steamy enough for me to warrant a look at its GoodReads page and when I saw the reviews weren't all bad, I decided to add it in the endless list of books I one day want to read。What got me to pick up this book however was pure chance of finding it in my recently added list while I was sitting upset about how I've only read 1 book this whole year。 I thought I'd lost my ability to read as much and/or as quickly as I used to。 But boy, did this book prove me wrong。 I finished it in 3 days, approximately 6 hours total。 This book's main focus was the steamy and sexy "romance" between the main two leads, which if I'm being honest, was this book's saving grace。 If I have to use one word to describe this book, it'd be hot。The plot is pretty basic and predictable if the blurb is read。 The female lead wanting to prove to her boss that she's capable of working alongside him。 There's shared history between them and seemingly a lot of enmity when the book opens, but it can clearly been seen through for the apparent sexual chemistry between them。 Other than these fireworks, the banter between them is also pretty enjoyable, up to a certain point。 While they work fantastically together, I've grown up enough to recognize now how the male lead in real life would be the perfect example of a toxic person one should rather stay away from。 While both of them are attracted to and immensely enjoy each other, even the book doesn't shy away from admitting what chaotic pairing the two are, who can blow up the whole world, even themselves。 (view spoiler)[The main characters go a step ahead and admit how they aren't stable, and sure, that's passionate and spontaneous。。。 and I guess all of it just depends on the lens you look at it from。 “There’s something wrong with us。 I shouldn’t even want to be near you right now。”“We’re fucking volatile。 And spontaneous and chaotic。 It doesn’t make us bad or wrong, dollface。”“It makes us hard to deal with, Cade。”“Life without chaos would be boring, Izzy。 Life without glitches and your bursts of anger and me seeing you go off 。 。 。 it’s unbearable。”“Everyone’s working out the glitches for a smooth life!”“Are you?” He cocked his head。 “Or do you come to work every day looking for them, wanting to conquer them, wanting to wrangle them, and then you enjoy when they get out of control again and challenge you?”“We’re not stable。”“Of course we aren’t。” I also think a comparison to their relationship being like Joker and Harley Quinn's is more proof of how it isn't exactly healthy, but then again, it's just a work of fiction referencing another。 (hide spoiler)]This criticism doesn't mean there weren't things that were done right。 (view spoiler)[They both trusted each other highly and opened up parts of themselves they had hidden from others。 They even tried to improve themselves for the other, and I guess there is that aspect of sexiness and romance when a man who can burn down the world but doesn't, chooses to do so for that one girl。 (hide spoiler)]Other than the romance aspect, some focus was also given on the dynamics the main characters had with their family and friends。 Not much attention was given to them, so at times for some it did feel like just a barrage of names with no individual personalities attached。 At the same time, the book did set up future stories (some I think have already released by the author) for the side-characters, so that's pretty cool。 One other topic which was a strong focal point was the female protagonist Izzy's battle with addiction and how despite being 9-years-sober after rehab, it still was a constant for her that she was still dealing with。 The book also touched on themes of grief and bottling up of emotions, which is something I personally really liked。 The backstory given to the characters was something that could've made this book a little-bit more than just an erotica and more of a proper story。 While important points were touched, much was left for speculation and the backstory didn't dive in as deeply as I would've liked it to。 Reader discretion is advised as this is a strictly Adult novel diving deep into descriptive sexual scenes。For me this book was definitely a one-time, just for fun read。 Despite the lack of depth in the story, characters, plot, etc。, I can't say I didn't enjoy this book, so I've still given it a 3。25 stars read。Would recommend if you're looking for a steamy read to pass your time。 Quotes:• Sometimes good friends knew the limits of your heart better than you knew it yourself。• Cade’s eyes were melted chocolate, and his look suddenly felt approachable。 Maybe in another world, it would have been。 I swear we could have been friends had we met at a different time, in another life。Here, we couldn’t。• “We can’t change someone’s path once their mind is made up。 You can’t go back and rewrite his story or think of the what-ifs。 It’s why you shouldn’t try to scramble that letter into something it’s not。 You accept what people have done and respond to it in the way that’s best for you。”• Love would shatter me, and I think I knew that this was exactly where it was headed。• Family doesn’t shrink from your mistakes and disappear; they just sink their roots in deeper to get you out。• “When you fight those feelings the way you do, your body explodes into doing dumb shit, because a fireball isn’t meant to be contained。 Let the real you breathe so everyone else can witness it。”• Line 11: Can you see that I found a love that wrecks me but still makes me whole?Line 12: I feel the pain, the wreckage but also the love deep in my soul。(view spoiler)[• "Was this too wild? Was I stepping way out of the comfort zone I’d lived in all these years? The answer was a big yes。Did I feel alive, though? Like I didn’t have to hide myself with Cade? The answer was again a great big freaking yes。"• There were still days I wondered if she was better off without me, if somehow I still put her in danger by being tied to her。 Yet, I did know better than to leave again。 Izzy Hardy would always be my weakness, the girl I couldn’t look away from or leave behind, even if I tried。• I got on my knees right then and there to pull the ruby ring from my pocket。 “Say yes to hating that you love me for the rest of your life, Izzy Hardy。”。。。“Fine,” she giggled。 “Yes。” (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

Loved this book。 Strong female main character is everything for me。 I just love when the girl stands up for herself despite everyone else fearing for her。 Izzy is strong and ambitious and smart and a mess and I loved it。 Caden is also alright。 Smut is 4/5 because we didn’t get everything but it was so good。Spoiler!!Minus a star for the weird threesome scene, hated it so much it was so awfully written and out of the blue。 Just a no for me。

Honestly I couldn't connect with FMC。 I don't know。 She was annoying。 Like really really annoying。 Cade was OK character for a dark romance but no fireworks。 Overall the book was not for me。 I didn't like the dialogs, the story was boring, and Izzy was this weird character I don't like: bitchy, immature and self-centered person that everyone around seems to love and want。 Also the story was not captivating。 Even at the end when the Albanians took her I was not interested at all。I almost DNF。 I d Honestly I couldn't connect with FMC。 I don't know。 She was annoying。 Like really really annoying。 Cade was OK character for a dark romance but no fireworks。 Overall the book was not for me。 I didn't like the dialogs, the story was boring, and Izzy was this weird character I don't like: bitchy, immature and self-centered person that everyone around seems to love and want。 Also the story was not captivating。 Even at the end when the Albanians took her I was not interested at all。I almost DNF。 I did finish but I skipped some of the scenes。 I started skipping scenes after 50% of the book。I don't think I will read another book from this author。 Especially that I can already see that Declan might very similar to Cade。I give it 2 stars out of 5 just because I enjoyed some of the sex scenes and Cade being at least an ok character。 。。。more

Cade and Izzy were volatile, spontaneous, and chaotic。 There was an obvious pull between them and a lot of sexual chemistry - the steam in this book is non-stop。 If you’re a fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope and like a book with a lot of steam, then this is one for you as both these components were well written and engaging。 For me however, I couldn’t connect with the characters that much and struggled with what I felt was a lack of plot。 I finished it as I was interested to see how the book en Cade and Izzy were volatile, spontaneous, and chaotic。 There was an obvious pull between them and a lot of sexual chemistry - the steam in this book is non-stop。 If you’re a fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope and like a book with a lot of steam, then this is one for you as both these components were well written and engaging。 For me however, I couldn’t connect with the characters that much and struggled with what I felt was a lack of plot。 I finished it as I was interested to see how the book ended but I it was more down to “Well, I’ve got this far I might as well continue” as opposed to “I really need to know how their story ends”。 。。。more

This book was a whole new level of smut for me。 This is by far top one of 2022 for me。 Shain Rose wrote shattered vows and when I saw this book I was intrigued because I knew it was gonna be steamy and she delivered。 Especially with the groveling and all the things Cade did in order to keep Izzy happy and safe。 It would be crazy to find a man that would go above and beyond just like Cade did。 This was so good and had me hooked especially in the beginning。 I would totally recommend this book and This book was a whole new level of smut for me。 This is by far top one of 2022 for me。 Shain Rose wrote shattered vows and when I saw this book I was intrigued because I knew it was gonna be steamy and she delivered。 Especially with the groveling and all the things Cade did in order to keep Izzy happy and safe。 It would be crazy to find a man that would go above and beyond just like Cade did。 This was so good and had me hooked especially in the beginning。 I would totally recommend this book and I think y’all should give this one a try。 。。。more
